The fourth son of John McCance, he was born on 7th Apr 1819.  He joined the Army and served with the 65th Bengal Native Infantry as Lieutenant.  He died, unmarried, in Gowhatti, India, on 21 Feb 1842, and was buried there.  There is an inscription for him at Drumbeg on the Memorial erected by John McCance (b.1772)..
