The third son of John McCance, he was born on 17 July 1816.  He was a J.P. for Co Antrim and died, unmarried, at Aberystwith in Wales on 27 July 1863.  He was buried at Drumbeg, where there is an inscription on the Memorial erected by John McCance (b.1772).  That is all we know about him, except that we believe the portrait above (painted by Richard Hooke) was in the possession of his great-nephew, John Law McCance. .
