The only son of James McCance, he was born in Sutton, Surrey, on 22nd Apr 1888 and educated at St Paul's School.  He went into the Army and was a 2nd Lieutenant in Feb 1916.  Beyond that we have no further information except that he was believed to possess a number of family portraits.
