The elder son of John McCance, he was born at Greenview, Dunmurry, on the 6th Nov 1805.  He married Emily Stevenson (?-1868), the youngest daughter of William Stevenson of Springfield, Co. Antrim, on 5th Oct 1838.  They had three children, William (1840), John (1843) and Mary (1847).  He lived at Knocknagoney but we don't know anything else about him at present.  He died in Clifton on 6th June 1871 and was buried at Drumbeg, where there is an inscription on the Memorial erected by John McCance (b.1772).
