Third son of Sir George Strong Nares.  Like his father and brother, he was a hydrographer.  We don't know much about his career but his work, presumably, took him to Australia on HMS Dart, where, on 12 Feb 1901, he married Catharine "Minnah" Walch (1877-1940), third daughter of James H B Walch of Hobart, Tasmania, but they had no children.

We also know that he was on HMS Egeria in November 1904 in the Nanaimo area, Canada.

George died in Middlesex on 16 July 1905.  She died in Budleigh Salterton, Devon, on 12th Jan 1940, though she is described as being of the Old Vicarage, Marden, Nr Devizes in Wiltshire.
