| The eldest son of Edward
Nares (by his second wife), he was born in 1804. He
matriculated from Merton College, Oxford, on 2 Nov 1821, and graduated
BA in 1826. He married Cecilia Denne, (third daughter of David
Denne) in Lydd, Kent, on 7 June 1830. He became rector of New
Church, New Romney, on 4 Mar 1834 and of Brenzett, Kent, in 1847.
He later became rector of Withersham, Kent, until he died on 17 May
1865. Census information also indicates that he was a JP in 1861.
They had three children, the eldest being Edward Denne Nares (born 1831). They also had two daughters, Cecilia Elizabeth (born 1834) and Katherine Cordelia Maria (born 1836). |
